Japanese Knotweed & Hogweed Control
Japanese Knotweed and Giant Hogweed are both registered under Section 14(2) of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 as invasive weeds and must be dealt with. This act makes it an offence to grow these plants in the UK and, if you have these present on your site, you must start a treatment program to eradicate them.
Our Contracts Manager will attend your site to carry out a site survey and advise the best method of control, resulting in the creation of a treatment plan. The favoured methods are Stem Injection and Foliar Application. For mature plants Stem Injection ensures maximum effectiveness, whilst foliar application is best for young growth. Barge Group’s operatives are trained and licensed to use all products that they apply for herbicidal application or 'weed killing'.
Great first impressions are increasingly important, and a weedy entrance can create a terrible first impression for visitors or potential new customers. Even sites that do not have any landscaped grounds will still suffer from problem weeds on hard surfaces.
Barge Group can provide you with a bespoke service to combat your weeds on playgrounds, car parks, showroom forecourts, petrol stations and roadsides.
We can also offer selective weed treatment packages for grassed areas such as formal lawns, amenity lawns and sport pitches. Our trained, knowledgeable, uniformed spray operatives can attend your site at the most convenient time for you, even if this means working outside of normal working hours or at weekends.
Green & Sedum Roof Maintenance
A Green Roof can help a building blend into the natural surroundings, but requires maintenance to keep it looking its best. All roofs require a minimum of two inspections a year to ensure that the rainwater outlets are working correctly.
An intensive green roof will require the regular maintenance associated with the planting scheme and landscape design, whereas an extensive green roof will need only minimal maintenance to ensure that any unwanted species do not become established.
Our service includes a full inspection and reporting of the green roof and a bespoke detailed report provided containing the condition of the vegetation and the treatment required.
Green Roof Maintenance includes:
Plant Assessment - One of our Green Roof teams will inspect your green roof to determine what remedial work, if any, needs to be undertaken.
Removal of Unwanted Items - Over time a green roof can become clogged with leaves, debris and other unwanted vegetation, which we can remove as part of our service.
Inspection - of roof outlets and removal of any encroaching vegetation to enable water to flow freely through rainwater pipes.
Application of fertiliser - To help restore your green roof to its best an organic slow release granular fertiliser will encourage growth.
Irrigation - After all remedial work has been performed we will examine and test the irrigation system, ensuring it is working as expected.
All of our Green Roof Maintenance operatives are fully trained in ladder use, ladder inspection, safe rooftop access and rescue techniques. All of our Personal Protective Equipment and Roof Top Safety Equipment is LOLER inspected to meet HSE guidelines.
